WASH Infrastructure

82% of the population lack regular access to water.

As COVID-19 cases in Venezuela continue to rise, lack of access to clean water and sanitation is making it almost impossible to prevent the spread of the disease.

We are improving access to clean water and sanitation across the country, both to combat the spread of COVID-19 and to enable our partners to continue their projects safely in the longer term.To date, thanks to private donations and a grant from the Simon Bolivar Foundation, we have:

  • Installed 100 water tanks in centres in 11 states, benefitting 10,000 people
  • Distributed over 27,000 bars of soap to partner organizations in 7 states
  • Donated 21,000 water purification tablets, purifying 975,000 liters of water
  • Acquired 115 water filters, giving our partners the infrastructure to purify water for 5-6 years
  • Begun a pilot study with Procter & Gamble’s innovative new water purification powder, which will purify 360,000 liters of water

After the initial success of our WASH programme, we are now looking for further funding of $20,000 to implement phase 2, reaching more people in need at a time when it is more necessary than ever.
