Living with a scarcity of water is becoming the norm for many Venezuelans. The lack of access to clean drinking water is one of the most serious problems Venezuelan children face in the current humanitarian crisis.
Infections such as salmonella, shigella, viruses like Hepatitis A, are now more common amongst the most vulnerable. To cope with the lack of access to clean and safe water many households stockpile the water they can source without knowing the safety of the precious liquid.
To help alleviate this problem, Chamos has sent 26 water purifying filters to seven of the NGO's we work with locally. The filters have been designed for emergencies and humanitarian work. They do not require electricity and simply use gravity and a special technology to transform undrinkable water into safe drinking water. The advanced purification technology removes 99.99% of all viruses, bacteria, parasites and microplastics and they reduce turbidity. The filters meet the highest requirements of the World Health Organization and the US EPA.
These filters will provide a long-term solution by allowing access to safe drinking water to about 2600 children for 3 to 5 years.
As a short term emergency solution, we have also sent water purifying tablets to the same NGO's. We sent enough to provide drinking water to 6000 children for 6 months.
