The UN Sustainable Development Goals are a set of 17 interlinked global goals designed to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. Our Clean Water programme makes progress towards:
An alarming 82% of Venezuelans struggle to access clean and safe water daily. The majority of families are dependent on irregular and unreliable truck-delivered water. Any water available from the taps has been found to have high levels of harmful bacteria which contributes significantly to stomach illness, malnutrition and compromised long-term health.
Clean water and sanitation – a basic human right – has become a luxury.
In 2019, we identified that a lack of access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene had become one of the most wide-reaching and severe problems in the areas we work - affecting not only children and their families, but also the ability of our partners to carry out their projects. We decided to take action, and launched our Clean Water Programme.
To date we have:
CARRIED OUT 116 NEEDS-ASSESSMENT SURVEYSÂ amongst our partners, to identify where our support will be most impactful
PROVIDED 194 WATER TANKS, reducing the time spent collecting water and ensuring certainty of supply
DISTRIBUTED 170 WATER FILTERS, improving the quality of the water and reducing gastrointestinal and parasitic diseases
DISTRIBUTED 36,000 WATER PURIFICATION TABLETS, thanks to a partnership with Procter & Gamble Venezuela
PROVIDED OVER 27,000 BARS OF SOAP, reducing the incidence of COVID-19 and other transmissible diseasesÂ
